Wedding dress shopping

This weekend has been great fun. My daughter Michelle is getting married on 10 October this year and we went going wedding dress shopping on Saturday. On Friday night we left work and drove down to Burton on Trent where Michelle and Ben bought a house. On Saturday we walked into Burton Town to Moss Bros and looked at the men's outfits and made some decisions about those.
We had an appointment at the little wedding dress shop at 2.00pm on the afternoon and Ben's mum came along to join in the fun as well. Michelle tried on about eight or nine different styles, some where very Victorian and full of flounces, others were more fitted. She even managed to try a large full net meringue style dress on. Although it was quite difficult to sort out the manoeuvring into them.
After a while Michelle narrowed it down to two dresses. Then the difficulty was to make a decision, but she finally chose one and a matching headdress for the event.
On the evening we were booked into a local Burton curry house, Temptations for a meal. Apparently it had won awards in 2008 for the service but I must admit we had the worse service I had ever encountered. There was seven of us and we ordered wine when we ordered out meal. It took that long before they served ourt starters that we had drunk three bottles of wine between us. and then they only served us after we had complaind twice. Then they had the cheek to serve our meal on chipped plates. When we asked for them to be changed they made out we were in the wrong for being fussy! Michelle was not happy and stated that it was very unhygenic to have chipped plates and immediately all other diners were given a different style 'new' plate.
They even managed to mix up the orders when Sally wanted a change from her usual Korma to another mild one but was given a very hot Jalfezi. Even that was hotter than the Madras paul had requested and the waiter had warned him it was 'very hot'! Needless to say we wont be going back to that restaurant again. It may have had an award in the past but it only deserves a gong at the moment.
Sunday morning we had our family favorite of 'dippy' boiled eggs before we drove back home to see to the cats.

It was a shock to they system to go back to work after two weeks in the sun. Especially when I haven't even finished wading through the mountain of laundry. As a distraction to avoid looking at the laundry, I have been reviewing the photos which I took in Egypt while I was playing with my new Canon 450D camera and the 50mm lens which Allan bought me for Christmas. These very clever carvings were on display in the hotel restaurant. They had lovely displays of fruit and vegetables everyday. I just had to capture the colourful display. I set off tonight for my Tuesday weight watchers class in anticipation of the two weeks all inclusive menu of the Hauza Beach Resort in Sharm would have increased my weight dramatically. I was overjoyed to find I had stayed the same as before my holiday and not managed to put on an ounce! I don't believe it, we must have drank at least a bottle of red wine each day. I will have to be really ggood for this week otherwise it will show on m...

Playing in the sugar Bowl

This Card was created for the Sugar Bowl Challenge no 30 where the challenge was to create a card based on a sketch and make it shabby chic. I used an Easel card style as I love these at the moment!. I altered my GorJuss girl stamp and added Wings and another butterfly which was lifted off 3D with silicone glue. The background papers were from Basic Grey and Crafty Individuals. The background circle was embossed with the damask Cuttlebug folder and all were distressed with Ranger inks. The Angel words stamp is an old one from Debbie Moore designs. a couple of prima flowers, brads and stickles finish off the design.

Still Waiting.....

We are still waiting for our grandchild to be born. Our daughter is now 10 days over her due date and getting bigger and bigger. We hope that everything is well and baby is born with some intervention early next week. I hope this lazy baby will stay happy and contented when it emerges into the world. There is a large family waiting to meet him or her! As I am waiting, I used the Waiting to Happen kit from MGLscraps. This kit is so versatile and perfect for scrapping our waiting game. The layout is of my daughter Michelle when she showed teenage attitude.
