Boudoir Photography or 'How to look Good Naked'

I love Gok Wan's show 'How to look Good naked', I seem to cry everytime when people get their self confidence to go for it! The photographs are always artfully posed and not actually showing anything indecent.

When I atended Cheryl Johnsons Photography bootcamp earlier this year we learned about staging shots so although I had the therory, its rare that an opportunity arises for me to practice.

When my daughter Michelle got married to Ben on 10th October this year, I went up to her bedroom with Michelle whilst the 'official' wedding photographer was downstairs. As she was getting ready Michelle was up for me posing her on their bed for a few photographs. Although not quite naked, she wore her wedding underwear which consisted of blue frilly pants, white stockings and her blue robot shoes. She had her tiara on and only needed her dress to finish off the outfit.

I was so pleased with how this photo turned out that I had it made into a large canvas and presented it to her new husband on his 30th Birthday a few weeks later. Now its up on their bedroom wall, I can share the photo with you all.

Traditional bookbinding techniques

I love learning new skills. I have been making scrapbook and albums for a while with the floating spine paper technique, but wanted to research the traditional bookbinding skills. I used a quality dot grid paper cut and folded into 10 signatures each with 8 pages (in my math thats an 80 page notebook!) The signatures were handswn together with waxed cotton thread using strips of Tim Holtz fabric as strengthener on the binding.  The end pages had fabric wrapped around the edges and then added to the signature block.   Tiny bits of header piping was added to finish off the ends.  The spine was given a generous coat of bookbinding glue and muslin wrapped over. Only then did I layer on the faux leather glued to both back and front and finished with corners. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/MyYJCVpt5Ek" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-pi...

I knew it was one of those days...

When I woke up with my left eye swollen shut. When I prised it open it was very red and sore. I felt like Quasimodo. That sort of things happens occasionally when O get run down or have been very busy. Just in time for a bank holiday weekend then! Not only is it a long weekend and I was looking forward to going out for a bear or two tonight but we are off to visit baby Daisy in the morning. Then I went down stairs and made a cuppa. Allan got up and went to refill the kettle and a bit of plastic fell off. When we looked the inside of the lid had corroded and the plastic was turning to powder. A new kettle was desperately needed, we had had that one for about nine years so we cant complain. But I felt sick when I realised I had just had a cuppa tea from that which meant drinking corroded plastic! As I have just started Cheryl Johnson's Painting with Light the sequel online photography course I took my camera to work. As soon as I got there I was asked to take a photo of ...
It was a shock to they system to go back to work after two weeks in the sun. Especially when I haven't even finished wading through the mountain of laundry. As a distraction to avoid looking at the laundry, I have been reviewing the photos which I took in Egypt while I was playing with my new Canon 450D camera and the 50mm lens which Allan bought me for Christmas. These very clever carvings were on display in the hotel restaurant. They had lovely displays of fruit and vegetables everyday. I just had to capture the colourful display. I set off tonight for my Tuesday weight watchers class in anticipation of the two weeks all inclusive menu of the Hauza Beach Resort in Sharm would have increased my weight dramatically. I was overjoyed to find I had stayed the same as before my holiday and not managed to put on an ounce! I don't believe it, we must have drank at least a bottle of red wine each day. I will have to be really ggood for this week otherwise it will show on m...
